Hardware failure. :(((
Category: Miscellany

Quick post to share the bad news before I start getting ready for work -- about a half hour ago I got up and flicked on my monitor to be greeted by a blue screen and a message informing me of HARDWARE FAILURE and telling me to contact my vendor. That makes me sad. I've had this computer since '98, so I guess it may be about time for it to die... but fuck, it can't die -- it's my computer! And it's all I've got, so if it goes then I won't be able to do SC or come online or anything. Bah. I restarted the machine, and it's up now... and as far as I can tell I haven't lost anything, so at least that's good. Seems fine, too, but messages like that scare me.

I'm going to have it run a checkdisk while I get ready for/am at work (yes, I'm closing at the bookstore for the fourth fucking night in a row... and tomorrow night makes five) to see what's up, and then the rest of the week will probably see me backing up files or something. That may put a damper on my plans for SC, but if the machine holds up I'll try to get at least one new article posted in addition to those movie-related features. I may upload them sooner than Friday, just to make sure they get up before my system dies. 🙁

Alrighty, it's disk checking time.

Okay. Last time I blogged about how much fun I had at my five year high school reunion. I hadn't initially planned on going, but after having attended I was really glad I did.

Tonight, I kinda wish I hadn't. I closed at the bookstore tonight. It was awful -- it's always awful. And it wasn't much more awful than it usually is (there was one thing that really made me angry; I'll touch on some other time), but having actually had fun the night before somehow made it that much worse. I was seriously on the verge of tears when I got off -- it was that fucking bad. But I didn't cry, because I never cry. I don't think I'm capable of it. Fuck if I didn't come close, though. So. Friday the 13th feast o' fright has come and gone, but if you haven't checked out that special Scary-Crayon update (or if you want to read those pieces again; they'll be there as long as the site is), you can still enjoy our spooky leftovers. And do leave comments on the previous entry! Or send an e-mail. But gimme feedback! (more...)

Brief notes before bed.
Category: Miscellany

I'm still awake. From yesterday. Soon I will sleep.

But first:

Friday's horrific Scary-Crayon film review is coming along nicely. I've still got nearly 300 screencaps to wade through (ugh), but in the process of taking all those shots I penned about half of the summary, so that's good. Also, the new background is ready. It'll go up tomorrow as well. Hurrah!

This has been a pretty slow week for e-mails. And hey, people I owe e-mails, I haven't forgotten about you. Just so you know. Ok? (more...)

My creative teeth and ambitions are bared...
Category: Miscellany

Just finished penning the first draft (i.e., the hard, handwritten copy) of a new short story. I don't think it's all that great, but hell, it's done, and it's the first handwritten story I've finished in a while, so hopefully it'll be the start of me finishing even more in the weeks to come. I'm always having ideas for new stories -- so many that I don't even remember most of them, being left with only that feeling that I've forgotten something great and cursing myself for not writing it down, but even without these I've still got way more story ideas than I have time to actually write -- so the hardest part will be figuring out which story I should work on next. And I've got a bunch of older, unfinished stories too... so much to do. (more...)
