A Crayon Haiku #12 is up. w00t.

Wanna know how my day was? Pretty crappy -- one of those "damnit I have no faith in humanity so why don't I just hang myself before things get worse?" days. People consistently and almost unanimously disappoint me with their views whenever the "race" issue comes up. On the one hand, I know it's a really complicated issue and sadly most people aren't prepared or willing to really think it through, and then on the other hand it's so bloody simple that you can't help but be discouraged when they fail to arrive at "acceptable" conclusions. Or they claim to have arrived at a conclusion that I could get behind and then totally negate it with their diction. Argh.

NOBODY TOUCH THE ABOVE PARAGRAPH. IT'S MINE! I'm totally turning that one into a short story. What paragraph, you ask? Clearly not the one above. You must mean the one I cut out of paranoia! Ho ho ho! Well, it will make a good story.

And yes, if you can't tell, I'm a little drunk. Next time, Angel! Or maybe Estella's questions. Y'know, whenever. Meh.

Also, as those of you visiting SC with Netscape/Mozilla might have noticed, I made a favicon file for the site. 16 x 16 pixels is hardly enough space for a MASTER ARTIST to work, but I tried my best to draw a glowing crayon with several pairs of SPOOKY GLOWING EYES in the background. How'd I do? Comments welcome.

Part of me feels like I should be shot for writing this ever, let alone posting it on Scary-Crayon, but here we go -- a loose translation and summary of Virgil's Aeneid, lines 1-267, entitled "Aeneas in da 'Hood". Yes, I took the Aeneid and made it urban. As noted in the disclaimer, it was actually my Latin III project, on which I actually received an A... Why? I don't know. Speaking of new designs, Scary-Crayon is back with a makeover! Utilizing the knowledge that fashionable women have known for centuries, I've decided to go with a slimming new vertical stripey background. Irregular, because at first I was thinking I'd try to make it look like a really wrinkled curtain, but I neglected to take into account that I was working on a zoomed-in display so I ended up with that. And then I really liked it! So there we are. The section archive pages, as well, have been done up in the new look of the main page, and the archive links are now accompanied by my ol' pals the SCARY FACES. I <3 Scary Faces. (more...)
