Scary-Crayon reviews *Lavender*!

Hey all! Hope you had a great weekend. I'll say a few words about mine in a bit, but first, let's kick things off off with a new Scary-Crayon Spectare article -- a short review of Lavender! Assuming you've never heard of it, it's about a grieving aromatherapist who learns to love again when an angel moves in with her. It's pretty cute, even with all of the weirdness in the film -- weirdness like the angel's shoe fetish and the woman's flamboyantly gay, afro wig-wearing neighbor. Anyway, read the review here! Also, in the categories section of the blog, I've added one for film! All future film-related commentary, including SC articles and blogged thoughts, then, will be grouped accordingly. Yay! Go BCC and ERHS!
Category: Miscellany

Nothing to report here -- this week has been really chill due to the fact that my supervisor only came in on Wed. So with so little to do, I've mostly been spending my time surfing the web and answering e-mails! This kind of thing recently landed TAB in trouble (read all about it!), but it's no problem here -- in fact, earlier today, all of the female employees (including HGWA) in our office and even a few from other offices stood crowded around a single monitor, hooting and watching a PowerPoint slideshow featuring photo after photo of buff, shirtless guys. Yet nobody gives me any attention whatsoever! Not that I particularly want it from them (with a few exceptions...), but it's still discouraging. Sigh. (more...)

A DPH *Friday the 13th* Hot Flash!
Category: SC Updates

Wow, this Friday the 13th kinda snuck up on me! So in lieu of that movie review I mentioned before (which will appear on the site next week), today we've got a special FRIDAY THE 13TH Dusty Plastic HELL: Hot Flash starring Casey Jones and the Malebolgia! By the way, have I ever mentioned how much I like that Malebolgia figure? 'Cause I really like that thing. Cost me $3, it did. <3

Ja ne, minna-san. 🙂

It's like a mixer for stereotypes.
Category: Miscellany

I've commented before on the students and how the vast majority of them fit certain (racial) stereotypes to a tee, but as my new position requires me to interact quite a bit with the older adults on the campus as well, I'm noticing a number of similar stereotypes among them too. For example, oftentimes an employee will listen to music at his/her desk. If the employee is a work study student, or is under the age of thirty, the music will almost always be hip-hop or R&B -- the only exceptions I've heard so far being the selections of the freaknerds and the Linkin Park played by an old high school classmate of mine. But if the employee is older, the music will invariably be gospel music. Actually, a handful of the younger people -- usually women -- also play an abundance of gospel music. By the way, I hate gospel music. (more...)

And now, Crayon Poetry Corner.
Category: SC Updates

As promised, here's Crayon Poetry Corner #10! This woman was totally delectable like. But what was she really running from? Hmmm... 😕

Also, dig this site -- Sexy-Superheroine-Models.com. I stumbled across it while searching for an old page with information about Terra (which was here, by the way). It's pretty wild -- when I searched for Terra info long ago, the Titans Tower link was one of the first ones to come up -- but this time I actually had to wade through a bunch of sites, not all of them entirely decent, in order to find it! Guess that goes to show that the Teen Titans cartoon is getting pretty popular... so much so that fairly attractive women are actually dressing up as characters from it! Anyway, regarding SSHM, I wouldn't visit it at work. Although most of it is work safe (despite the copious warnings), you wouldn't want to get a reputation for being the office nerd-perv! View at your own risk.

Aaand that's all for now! Thoughts on the poem and accompanying drawing are both welcome and appreciated. Ja ne, minna-san! 🙂
