Go BCC and ERHS!
Category: Miscellany

Nothing to report here -- this week has been really chill due to the fact that my supervisor only came in on Wed. So with so little to do, I've mostly been spending my time surfing the web and answering e-mails! This kind of thing recently landed TAB in trouble (read all about it!), but it's no problem here -- in fact, earlier today, all of the female employees (including HGWA) in our office and even a few from other offices stood crowded around a single monitor, hooting and watching a PowerPoint slideshow featuring photo after photo of buff, shirtless guys. Yet nobody gives me any attention whatsoever! Not that I particularly want it from them (with a few exceptions...), but it's still discouraging. Sigh.

Anyway, during the past two weeks, I've pretty much answered ALL of the e-mail I had in queue -- we're talking months' worth, people -- caught myself up on just about all of the webcomics I regularly read and read several new ones in their entirety, and caught up on a bit of blog reading, too. Phil mentioned that Newsweek put out a list of the 1,000 Top U.S. High Schools, noting with pride that his beloved Edward R. Murrow H.S. in Brooklyn ranked #912. Well, MY high school, Eleanor Roosevelt H.S. in Greenbelt, MD, made the list at #748 -- so take that, Phil! 😛 Also, the high school at which I attended pre-school -- Bethesda Chevy Chase in Bethesda, MD (they had a children's teaching program there or something) -- actually came in at #29! Obviously my influence has remained strong throughout the years. 😉

Anyway, I just wanted to post about something to pass the time. Ja ne, and if I don't post again before I leave here, have a great weekend!

I won't even bother going through that list for my school, as I'm sure it's in the bottom 500. Just based on the one that I know of in Austin, much of the top schools are in the ritzy areas...no surprise. Our school system is awful with teachers starting at low $30s but with a higher cost of living. I shit you not in that our bus drivers make more after 20 years than teachers. Okay, off my soapbox.

Glad to hear that things have calmed down a little for you at work. You really needed it. Hopefully, you can get some R & R time in this weekend.
