When I plan my USA road trip...
Category: Current Events … Serious

...remind me to leave Georgia and Alabama the heck off my list of stops. Seriously, what the Cybertronian frag is up with these ads?!? I'd love to see a post-partisan political environment, but we don't have that right now -- and running against members of your own party (outside of the primary season) and their achievements is just lame. Jim Marshall boasts of voting with Republicans 65% of the time. The flip is up with that?! Bobby Bright, if your constituents are that amped on conservatives, and you want to serve the majority of them, then I guess you should freaking switch parties!

Now, I'm sure someone told them that these kinds of spots would help them to win the elections, but ugh. If I'm a conservative, I don't want the guy who voted with Republicans 65% of the time -- I want the guy who voted with them 100% (or at least 90+%) of the time. I don't want the guy who says he'll support a conservative, I want the guy who is one. And if I'm a liberal, I'm not going to be particularly excited about voting for either of these candidates -- I'd probably prefer to pack my bags and move to California with the happy dancing hippies (and absent phony Southern accents). War for Cybertron Soundwave: SUPERIOR!!!
Category: Technical Stuff … Toys

Just playing around with the WP media upload function. I've never had a problem uploading images via FTP and writing the image code myself (and admittedly I don't like how WP writes it, so I've been editing the automatically generated code to my liking anyway), but the automatic generation of the smaller images is pretty helpful!

WfC Soundwave: SUPERIOR!

Soundwave as a Cybertronian boombox?

Anyway, the new Transformers Generations Cybertronian Soundwave (which takes after the character's appearance in the Transformers: War for Cybertron video game) is definitely replacing the Titanium Soundwave as the default G1/Classics representation of the character in my collection. Fun figure, and he's fairly fanmode friendly to boot! Soundwave normally turns into an armored Cybertronian car of sorts, but the above is my attempt to turn him into an alien boombox in functional reference to his original representation as a cassette deck. 🙂

Happy birthday to Kiddy Phenil!

Kiddy Phenil!

And to me, as well. 🙂

Went to The Cheesecake Factory yesterday for a dual birthday lunch with my dad -- when we ordered a slice of cheesecake, they brought it out with a candle and sang and everything. I know some people find that sort of thing embarrassing, but I think it's rather sweet! I miss candles, too -- I can't remember the last time I got to blow one out for my birthday. I really enjoyed it, such that I think I'm going to buy some scented candles for my room so I can light them and make wishes and blow them out whenever I feel like it. (more...)

And though time goes by...
Category: Travels

Yesterday was my mom's birthday, so we took her to the Glory Days Grill for an early dinner (in addition to a couple of stores and a local festival, where I picked up a carded Star Trek Jadzia Dax figure and used copies of S. Darko and "Red Dwarf" Series 1 for $2 each). Granted, Mom chose the restaurant because she had a birthday coupon for a free Oreo sliders dessert -- and because she'd gotten a free submarine sandwich earlier at another place, she only ordered sweet potato fries for her "meal" -- so it wasn't exactly a proper birthday treat on us, but still. It seemed like a restaurant; I'd go there again.

And our waitress? Bloody gorgeous. Mom adamantly protested when I tried to order her a glass of sangria to help her celebrate (and also because it'd be nice to see her get over her weird fear of alcohol; she seems to think that a single glass of wine can make one stumbling, vomitously drunk and effect extreme, nutty behavior), so I ultimately told the perplexed waitress that I'd take the drink if Mom wouldn't touch it. At that point, the waitress gave me a quizzical look and asked if I was of drinking age, whereupon I presented my ID. She remarked that she'd thought I was younger than she was.

And then I stupidly asked how old she was. Perhaps even more stupidly, she said, "Guess." (more...)

You get three guesses...

...why I want this figure, and they don't count if I've already told you. 😉

Golden Pharaoh

Hint: It's not because I give even the slightest crap about Golden Pharaoh as a character. Super Powers figures were not my childhood playthings!

But I do give a crap about Cobra Commander and the Baroness.

Cobra Commander and the Baroness!

I've never really cared about the 3.75" scale before, but sexy figures like these (and cheap, laughable, yet oddly appealing figures like these) are making a convert out of me. COBRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!
