In other news, work continues to be hectic and exhausting. I actually got a little pissed at a staff meeting today. In discussing all of the programs and activities they want to plan at the community college, it was noted with great interest and praise that in another department a presentation was being held in which several students are supposed to "educate" the staff and faculty about the HipHop culture. This, supposedly, would help to bridge the gap between the students and the faculty. And the whole time I was sitting there rolling my eyes and thinking, "What the FUCK," because it just struck me as ridiculous that someone thought this would be a good idea. Yes, the campus is predominately peopled with walking yo-yo-yo-wassup baggy-FUBU-clothes-wearing thug-wannabe stereotypes, but is that the kind of thing that should be encouraged to the point that the staff should be "educated" about it? I wanted to slam something down and then walk out just to show my contempt for that project and whoever thought it was worth a green light. Fuck that. (more...)

Yep! Fiction comes to Scary-Crayon with "Two Minutes on the Metro", a short piece I wrote like over a year ago and wanted to do something with. So give it a read and let me know what you think!

Fun fact: The images used to add a bit of color to the visual presentation are actually photos of the TMNT Sewer Lair playset (in which Donatello utilizes an abandoned subway car for his workshop), with various filters applied to them in my graphics editor. Keen!

Another ongoing Scary-Crayon featurette debuts with Crayon Song Parody #1. In this first installment, I rewrite the lyrics to The Beatles' classic song "Eleanor Rigby" to make it about... well, something else. And then, to make matters worse, I actually sing the bloody song a cappella -- yes, my version is available for download in mp3 format -- so those of you with iPods now have something new to listen to as you skip down the streets. Fair warning, though: it's a safe bet that I won't be winning American Idol anytime soon. 😉 Also, on the page, there are various links here and there to other more/less related SC articles, so those of you who aren't too familiar with the site can use that page as a hub to check out some of the pieces you may have missed. In other news, I stopped into Jo-Ann's Fabrics with my mother today. One of the employees was rather attractive -- a tallish, thin redheaded girl with twinkling eyes and an innocent smile -- and upon noticing the tagline on her nametag I couldn't help but laugh. That's right! I know I'm about three hours early -- and I don't bloody care -- but here it is: Scary-Crayon's in-depth review of Mary-Kate & Ashley's Dance Party of the Century! (Does that answer your question, Parizad? ;)) Actually, I hate to say it, but for what it is the game is actually pretty... good. It's certainly well worth the $1.15 I spent on it, anyway!
