So Uncle Ben's is running a commercial about how a grain of rice can "fly" -- a reference to how quickly it can go from the microwave to the table. Neat idea, Uncle Ben's, but now I associate your rice with maggots.

Wes... just saw a vampire policewoman on the news -- with extremely prominent fangs and the last name "Innocenti," no less. If vampires want to remain hidden, they should try harder.

Yep! Google searches keep leading me to some outdated plugin -- I need something more recent! Or maybe I should just give in to Twitter ( 😥 ), since it seems like people have an easier time getting it to post to WP and Facebook.

What the title says -- I'm testing a poll plugin. I'll fool with the styling and whatnot once I'm sure it's working properly, but give it a go for now! At first I asked "Is this working properly?" -- but then I realized that one would have no idea until after taking the poll, and by that point one would already have voted. Sooo yeah, pick a color.

EDIT 2: Second time's a charm?

I am now rocking the program, and getting it set up to my liking -- updating and seeking out new add-ons, replacing my broken theme (with Nuvola, for the time being), changing configuration values, and so forth -- took several hours out of my day that I hadn't planned on losing. So far it's decent. I don't like the removal of the status bar (fortunately, Status-4-Evar restores that functionality), and some of the default options are less than ideal (tabs on top; what's up with that?) -- and the program appears to be a memory hog (which is admittedly nothing new) -- but I haven't had any crashes yet. ((Erm, I think I spoke too soon about the crash thing there... though I'm pretty sure that was due to one of these plugins. Hey, speaking of plugins, dig this crazy WordPress footnote thing!)) It suddenly occurred to me to add some more images to the random thingie in the sidebar -- it's been a while since I did that, and I certainly haven't added any since the feature became widgetized! So yeah, now there are 22 new ones that will appear at random as you read the blog and stuff. Since it'd be incredibly difficult to recognize them, however (they could just as easily be images from the previous 311 that you just hadn't encountered yet), I've included them below the cut. Recent circumstances resulted in my working with a fresh WordPress install this morning, and after doing a bit of maintenance with that I got it into my head to finally widgetize my Wesoteric theme! I've been thinking about doing it for a while, but every time I decided I was going to I'd start reading a tutorial and get scared away. They generally have titles like "Widgetize your theme in 3 easy steps!" -- and then when you get into them, they start going on about things and showing garbled code snippets and it doesn't sound very easy at all.
