Thus revealed, the creature buried its nose in the tire-tilled soil...

Happy birthday to me.
Category: Miscellany

So as those of you who checked out the Site Talk block on Scary-Crayon's main page already know, I turned twenty-three today. Rah. Not a lot happened. I went to work, came back here and messed around with graphics for SC's layout update for a few hours (alas, it looks like I may end up scrapping most of the work I did tonight and go a different route instead). Soon I'll go to bed, since I'd like to get more than the three hours of sleep I got last night. I didn't do anything fun, I didn't hang out with any friends (because I don't have any), and I certainly didn't get anything noteworthy as far as presents go (presents? from where would they come?) because nobody really gives a shit about me or my birthday. Yep. (more...)

Live from work! The debate rages on...
Category: Miscellany

Hello, readers! And welcome to my first post from the office. I don't anticipate doing too many of these, namely because writing blog entries on the clock really feels like slacking off to me, even though I'm not shirking any duties while doing so, as I stop typing to do my duties when the phone rings or someone needs me to help him/her with something in the office. Still, the interruptions are slightly annoying. Also, I dislike these computers. I know, for instance, that they must have better specs than ol' Sasquatch (my PII 400 mHz machine at the house, so named because the primary hard drive is a Quantum Bigfoot), and yet they still manage to run significantly more slowly than my longtime companion. Work work work
Category: Miscellany

Quick post. So I started job #2 yesterday -- in case I didn't mention it before, I'm going to be filling an administrative clerk position at the local community college while another employee is out on extended sick leave. There wasn't a lot I could do on my first day, what with me not having the requisite keys and computer passwords to do what I'll eventually be doing, so I was mostly running errands and xeroxing forms and whatnot. It's a fulltime position (temporary, though, so no benefits), and with me keeping the bookstore job, for at least the next month I'll be working seven days a week. That is, I'm going to be swamped, but hopefully I'll find time to update Scary-Crayon at least once a week. As always, though I'll shoot for two updates. (more...)

The usual suck.
Category: Miscellany

Still... so... tired. But things are just about back to normal. Worked a day shift at the bookstore Wednesday, closing tonight and tomorrow night (not to mention a mandatory associates' meeting at 8 AM tomorrow) -- yeah, the usual suck has resumed. For the most part, Wednesday was pretty slow and dull, which led me to think that maybe I prefer the days with multiple assholes -- because at least then I have a reason to complain (over and above the shitty wages and the toilet-cleaning aspects of the job). With the asshole customers, the job really feels like punishment, so at least then I'm getting a greater karmic benefit out of it. And stories, of course. (more...)

NINJA BOBBLEHEAD!!!

Yep, I'm back. Got back on Saturday evening, actually, but I've been resting. Or trying to, anyway. Tomorrow it's back to the bookstore. Interesting stories and such from the trip COMING SOON to a blog near you. And as far as Scary-Crayon goes, I should have a new special edition Crayon Haiku installment up before I skip off to work tomorrow. I've picked up lots of material for the site -- perhaps too much -- so it'll take me a while to wade through all of it, not to mention all of the other stuff that I had on deck beforehand. It's entirely likely that you'll be reading reviews of things from the NYC trip in December. (more...)
