SC updates on the way, new anime DVDs.
Category: SC Updates

No, I don't have the latest Scary-Crayon piece for you yet -- I was planning to write it tonight (like, right about now), but I'd thought that I was closing tomorrow instead of working from 11-6, which is apparently what I'm scheduled for. Sorry 'bout that. For Monday, then. I promise.

Maybe. :/

And by the way, I do feel bad about these once-a-week updates to the site. Seriously, I'll try to update more often. As you read last time (if not, scroll down or click here), I've just got so many projects I'm working on and/or planning... Argh. Excuses, excuses. By the way, add "find a better job" to my to-do list. And hey, if you've got the ties and connections to help with that last one, please do...

So last week Best Buy had a 20% off sale on all anime, so with yesterday being Saturday and all I popped in before work to try and take advantage of it at the last minute. After checking my purchases against Deep Discount DVD's prices, it turns out that with tax and all I didn't fare as well as I'd hoped (saved some here, overpaid there, and then tax put me about square with DDD's regular prices), but oh well. I ended up with Azumanga Daioh Vol. 3 (it was the only one they had), MALICE@DOLL (expect a review of that one, though not necessarily a full one -- but FYI, the box reads, and I quote, "If you like hentai, anime, or good old fashioned tentacle sex, this one is for you." Having watched it, that's totally misleading; the film struck me as more of a strange amalgam of Spielberg's A.I., The Animatrix, and maybe something out of Lovecraft), and the Cutey Honey Essential Anime Collection. I came thiiiiis close to buying the Excel Saga DVD box set, but given that I've never seen a single episode, I decided to keep the $48 and wait until I'm sure I want to go for it. Sure, I'll have to pay a little more when the time comes (unless it's on sale again), but at least I'll be a little more knowledgeable about what I'm getting. It sure sounds cool, though. 🙂

I did buy something else for $5.99 (not part of the anime sale), but since I definitely plan to review that one I won't spoil the surprise... let's just say that despite the low low price, it's got over 8 hours worth of stuff. Oh, and it's also provided by the Department of Education at UCLA. Sound interesting? I sure thought so.

Alrighty, folks, I'm off to bed so I can get up for work tomorrow. I'll have that SC article for you soon (hopefully). For now, ja.
