Sadly, no, but that's what I was thinking when I saw that the subject header of my latest e-mail was "DONATION...". Here's the fulltext of the message:

I have not particularly lived my life so well, as I never really cared for anyone (not even myself) but my business.

Though I am very rich, I was never generous, I was always hostile to people and only focused on my business as that was the only thing I cared for. But now I regret all this as I now know that there is more to life than just wanting to have or make all the money in the world.

I believe when God gives me a second chance to come to this world I would live my life a different way from how I have lived it. Now that God has called me, I have willed and given most of my property and assets to my immediate and extended family members as well as a few close friends. I want God to be merciful to me and accept my soul, I have decided to give alms to charity organizations, as I want this to be one of the last good deeds I do on earth. So far, I have distributed money to some charity organizations in the U.A.E, Algeria and Malaysia.

Now that my health has deteriorated so badly, I cannot do this myself anymore. I once asked members of my family to close one of my accounts and distribute the money which I have there to charity organization in Bulgaria and Pakistan, they refused and kept the money to themselves. Hence, I do not trust them anymore, as they seem not to be contended with what I have left for them.

The last of my money which no one knows of is the huge cash deposit of Twelve Million, Five Hundred Thousand dollars (US$12,500,000 .00 only), that I have with a Security company abroad.

Acknowledge this message so that I can introduce you to my lawyer who will handle the transfer of receivership by you of the said funds.

I will want you to help collect this deposit and dispatch it to charity organizations.

Apparently, lung cancer and Alzheimer's disease make for a depraved pair, as they have defiled all forms of medical treatment (all of them? that's a lot of perversion...). It's almost enough to make you feel sorry for Alhaji Husein Mustapha. You shouldn't, though, because everyone will die someday. Or so he believes.

Seriously, though, I wonder how many people would fall for something like this. And you know what makes it even worse? Contrary to some other things which more/less acknowledge that there's something illegitimate going on (as with the money laundering schemes that they'll cut you in on) or claim to be part of some fabulous lottery, this guy gives you bullshit about repentance and wanting to give to charity and asks for your help in this end. And while I have no doubt that some of the people who fall for this crap have no intention of giving to charity and plan on keeping the money for themselves -- so you get what you deserve when you get robbed, assholes -- I bet there are a few people who, while stupid, really do plan on seeing that this money gets to organizations that can put it to good and noble use. And that someone out there is taking advantage of those poor good-hearted fools pisses me off. Fuck you, Alhaji Husein Mustapha. Just as your illnesses defile all forms of medical treatment, your scheme defiles all notions of charity and decency. For shame.
