Thus revealed, the creature buried its nose in the tire-tilled soil...

Seven years in a row.

For those of you wondering, I did make it out to Baltimore today (got back less than an hour ago) and decided to go ahead and attend Otakon, an activity that I'm still half-wishing I could go back in time to prevent myself from doing. Not that I didn't enjoy myself at the con -- I caught up with Wuken and met Kyu, among others, for the first time -- but for the most part I was hanging out with them and not doing "con" things, so the $40 almost seems like a waste. I say almost, because I did get to see L'arc en Ciel live in concert, and thanks to Wuken and his connections (thanks, dude!) we were seated in the VIP section. Very cool. And I did pick up some swag from the dealer's room, which is good. The bad? It set me back $45. And counting lunch and bus and light rail fare, today was not a good day for my wallet. (And then tomorrow is the 1st of the month, on which we get an extra 10% off plus the regular 20% employee discount at the bookstore, so I know I'll be spending even more on books very soon... bah.) But ah well; it's not every day I get to see L'arc en Ciel, not to mention Wuken and crew (2002 was the last time we crossed paths in person). Also, I now know exactly how to get into Baltimore via public transportation, so if I need to make the trek again it should proceed much more smoothly and with a lot less nervousness and uncertainty. And hey, I totally expected to get rained on, but I didn't. Rah.

Unfortunately, given that for most of the day I wasn't actually at the con, that cameras weren't even allowed in the L'arc concert, and that I didn't take too many pictures at the con itself, I'm not sure I'll have enough material for an official SC Otakon report. I may have enough to do a short piece on the con, what with the cosplayer photos I took, strange encounters along the way, flyers I can scan, and illustrations I can draw, but in the event that I don't do an Otakon report for SC I'll at least blog about it and post some photos here. And one (and perhaps even all three) of the DVDs I purchased will make a great Spectare review, so SC will get something out of it. The DVD I mention is an anime based on an early 3D fighting game series that was popular in the mid to late nineties. If you knew me in high school, you probably know what series I'm getting at... there was a time when I lived and breathed these games. At least until the third game, anyway. That one sucked.

So since I'm kinda exhausted from the convention, I guess tonight's planned article is out, but hey, it'll be up soon, I promise. I have both Monday and Tuesday off, so it'll definitely be up on one of those (hopefully the former). STAY TUNED! And oh bloody hell, you don't even want to know what I did last night as far as random food projects go. It won't be the one going up soon -- I'm waaaay backlogged on food pieces, so I wouldn't expect this one for another month at least -- but suffice it to say that rotten bananas were involved. Again. But at least now we're out of rotten bananas.

And now I shall retire to grab some dinner and watch my tape of "Teen Titans" and "Justice League Unlimited". Ja for now!
