Back from work. Time to relax.
Category: Miscellany

First of all, thanks to everyone for the condolences regarding Duncan's passing. I plan to have a Crayon Haiku up about him sometime this week or next week, so he can live on not only in my blog but on SC as well. Hard to believe I really miss a fish -- he'd been here so long I hardly even noticed him when he was here -- but his death makes me feel slightly lumpy inside. It's weird.

Anyway, I'm back from work, so now I guess I can relax and watch tv and maybe get some food since I haven't eaten all day. I really don't get how people working retail get fat (or stay fat), especially fulltime employees. At least if you work in a store (as opposed to, say, a cell-phone booth), you're generally on your feet, walking around and doing stuff, some of which consists of heavy lifting, for the majority of your shift. And where I work, you only get a measly 30 minute break for lunch. What the hell can you get in 30 minutes? Fast food, I guess, but even there you're doing enough work during the day to burn off a good chunk of those calories, so I dunno. And if you're anything like me, when you make retail wages you realize that fast food costs too damned much anyway. I've generally been bringing oatmeal squares and Twix bars for my breaks, which I don't even always eat.

Oh, and for those of you who read the Father's Day tribute to Splinter earlier, I apologize about the mass of typos -- coming off of less than four hours of sleep, I wrote that article up in about an hour and got it up because I reeeeaaaaally wanted to have it up before I left for work. But now I've read through it and made a few corrections, so everything should be gravy now, or at least on the level of regular SC pieces, with minor typos and not huge glaring errors like "peace" being spelled "peast". I dunno how the fuck that one happened. Anyway, sorry about those mistakes, Splinter! I <3 you.

Anyway, I'm not working again until Friday, so if any of my local pals reading want to hang out or something just send an e-mail or an IM and we'll set something up. Ok? OK!

Now I'm gonna go have some drinks and rest. Ja ne!
