A music meme!
Category: Meme

Mickey passed me the music stick a while ago -- so long ago that I can't even find the post in which she did so! -- but I was able to track down the questions in the online home of one badly dubbed boy, so here we go... music meme, ho! 😀

Total music files residing on my computer: Seeing as how I'm posting from work, I have no idea! But I'd guess... a whole heckuva lot? 😉 I actually used to get the free CDs from mp3.com and amp.com and whatnot, and with all of those and the CDs I've bought/been given and ripped, I'd say probably 17 gigs worth or so.

Last CD I bought: As mentioned here, one of those three random CDs I picked up... but we'll say Amy X Neuburg's Utechma, since it's my favorite of the bunch. 🙂

Song playing right now: The hum of the ceiling fan, the sound of fingers tapping lettered keys, overheard telephone conversations of co-workers, and the distant laughter of merry custodial workers. I'm not playing any music right now. 😛

Five songs I listen to a lot / mean a lot to me: Hmmm, toughy. Let's see if I can come up with five! Thus begins the list, in no particular order...

1. "One More Fucking Time" by Motorhead -- Should I explain? Let's let the lyrics do the talking:

...and so all those years together
weren't worth a fucking dime
so go on and find me guilty
just one more fucking time

Yep.

2. "Bother" by Corey Taylor (from the Spider-Man soundtrack) -- You don't need to bother / I don't need to be... Got it?

3. Ryu's background theme from Street Fighter II (preferably played on guitar!) -- Ryu was a champion, but his song (especially in the guitar version) has this mournful, solitary quality to it... and then, in the end, he always walks off into the sunset alone. Ken gets the girl and the glory, but Ryu never sticks around to stand on the pedestal or wear his championship medal. Granted, his situation and mine are a little different -- Ryu turns away from the glory; I never get it in the first place -- but the walking off alone part strikes a chord with me.

4. "In the Air Tonight" by Phil Collins -- Seriously. Don't ask.

5. You know, I'm having trouble coming up with a fifth! Something gothic, though. Yes, something gothic. Perhaps by Bella Morte. Maybe "One Winter's Night"? That's a good one.

Five People I'm Passing The Baton To: De, Tina, Parizad, Sam, and Pam. I bet they'll give us interesting answers, assuming they even do these things!

And now I must run -- ja ne, minna-san!

hm...try something frum like....My Chemical Romance for another song? or is it a teenage thing? Probably is...

You have a lot of music on ur comp. , Wes! I feel that with music, I have power. And if you have a lot of music(and you do!), you have a lot of power! Ah, imagine the horrible things I could do to people....sigh. Sorry, i had a slight daydream.Hehe...

Oh, did you know Steve?(another person frum the bookstore....i know, i know....its getting annoying...) well, he's leaving to go work at the OTHER BAM in Arundel Mills...because they offered him more money. We have very shallow people in this world, Wes. Oh well...now the only person I can truly like there is Erin...because she tortures Phyliss....*evil grin*. O well.

    Damn. I write a lot don't I? hehe...oops. I'm kinda talkative and wen i start to write a comment....i....basically write an entire conversation....hehe...

    well, ba-bye!

My Chemical Romance isn't bad! I like "Vampires Will Never Hurt You". But I disagree with the music being power thing. Now, money -- that's power. It may be true that you can't buy happiness with money, but you sure can buy yourself out of some unhappy situations with it... But with music, the only thing you can do is annoy other people by playing really obnoxious music really loudly (and as much as I like Aqua, I'd probably irritate myself more by blaring it for extended periods of time than anyone else)!

And yeah, I know (and like) Steve. And I'll be honest -- I'd have gone to work at the Arundel Mills store for more money too! It may seem (to some...) like he's betraying his co-workers, etc., but let's be honest -- there's no true loyalty at a retail establishment. The company isn't loyal to its employees (otherwise it would pay its in-store employees much more than it does, given the amount of the company's profits and given that the store workers are working harder to make money for the company than the people sitting at desks and creating planograms), the management isn't loyal to the associates (otherwise they'd fight against certain policies that disproportionately affect the workers beneath them), and the associates aren't even truly loyal to each other (otherwise they'd all get together and just fucking quit at once rather than continuing to be abused). But let me not go on here -- I'll save the rest for the book. 😉

    Oh, the irony!

So far, you are the only one to accept the musical baton, Wes! Seventeen gigs? Holy crap. I don't think I had that much, even in the heyday of my I-tune glory!! =)
