Comments! And thoughts about men and women.
Category: Miscellany

Already had 'em, but I made a few changes to the way they're working. Unfortunately, I was working with an older version of the comments template (apparently the latest version wasn't the one on my hard drive), so I unwittingly overwrote some of my later changes and had to try and do my best to recreate them. I may not have done so as well as I'd like, so if you notice anything drop a comment or send an e-mail and let me know. And I kicked up the comment maxlength quite a bit (since once or twice people have had problems with that), so you should be able to post some pretty long comments now. If you want.

And here's your incentive to do so. Every time The Anonymous Blogger writes a post along the lines of Friday's, he gets a massive number of comments. And taking a cue from him, Val posted her own post on that subject and also got a lot of commenters. Or maybe it's the same people commenting again and again. So to further encourage commenting and test how well I did or didn't screw things up, I'm going to follow along and do my own post on the subject.

Ready?

Men fucking suck. All they do is chase after women in search of sex, making lewd comments and guzzling beers all the live long day. Either that or they're guzzling beer while watching sports, because men are genetically programmed to do that sort of thing. And when they're not doing that, they're jacking off while looking at pornographic material.

Women suck too. All they do is waste hours chatting with their girlfriends on the phone about absolutely nothing, and when they're not doing that -- or sometimes while they're doing that, thanks to cell phones -- they're walking through malls spending excessive amounts of money on tacky clothing just for the sake of looking beautiful trendy just so men will ogle them and make lewd comments (which they will then complain about to their girlfriends on the phone). And when they're not doing that, they're reading trashy romance novels and daydreaming about passionate sexual encounters with Cuban cigars strangers.

Of course, I know that not all men and women are like that, but it's necessary to make blanket generalizations when one is doing social commentary -- and clearly such commentary is worthwhile and good, since statements that are patently false are undoubtedly accurate reflections of the social state. And besides, such commentary can spark lengthy discussions that don't mostly consist of people saying, "That's not right at all -- that's a gross generalization!" and don't also move them to contradict themselves by then offering their own counter-generalizations. No, we should all engage in social commentary and offer up ridiculously simple sweeping statements concerning the behavior of men and women more often. See how much good comes of it!

Talk amongst yourselves.
