A lot of different scenarios could happen if he never got hit over the head. For starters we would not have Gohan, Goten, Trunks, or any of the other second or third generation Saiya-jins. We probably wouldn't have seen anyone reaching the level of Super Saiya-jin anytime soon, since the Saiya-jins were ruthless by nature, and rarely felt (if at all) the necessary combination of pain and anger needed to bring about the transformation. Dragonball would have been completely different, if it did indeed continue, with perhaps even no Saiya-jins eventually; Freeza would probably have killed them all sooner or later. Imagine...a Freeza dominated universe...
