Above, we have the simple line drawing THAT STARTED IT ALL. At this point, our mechanized version of Oroku Saki looks kinda cute -- you'll note that the head is oversized, as I meant to give my Cyber Shredder rendition a slight SD (super deformed) appearance. Didn't want to overdo it, though. :P

This is pretty much the line drawing with a handful o' flood fills to give the image some flat color. Yay?

Aaaaaand the coloring continues, with the completion of shading on the arms and costume (sans metal armor) and the addition of GLOWING YELLOW EYES. Saki doesn't look quite so cute now, does he? Also, in the upper right corner, you'll note that I placed the Cyber Shredder sprite from the SNES version of TMNT: Tournament Fighters there as a color guide, since my drawing is for the most part based on his appearance there. (I took a few liberties with the armor, namely the simplified gloves and gauntlets.)

THE INSPIRATION...

CYBER SHREDDER of Tournament Fighters!!!

And before we glance at the finished product, yes, Virginia, there really was a Cyber Shredder. His eyes didn't really glow yellow -- the "eyes" in the profile picture are actually the color of his flesh, and according to the profile his eye color is black -- but I figured that a cyborg should have menacing glowing eyes. :P

AURA KNEE!!!

And with Tournament Fighters being a Street Fighter II clone -- a really good one, but a clone nonetheless -- you had the knockoff attacks like Shredder's Aura Knee (obviously inspired by Sagat's Tiger Knee). I initially wanted to draw Cyber Shredder doing this move -- hence the extended knee in my drawing -- but I disliked the positioning of his arms and all attempts to recreate the glowing green "aura" around the knee looked kinda hideous. So my Shredder just looks like he's leaping forward, which is okay with me.

w00t! The finished version of Cyber Shredder. You'll note that whereas I decided to keep things really simple with two-tone shading of the arms and the cloth/spandex/whatever portions of the costume, I used three colors for the bulk of the metal and two additional colors for the blades to give the armor a more metallic appearance. Also note that the metal colors are slightly different from those of the game Cyber Shredder -- I believe I borrowed the darkest shade from some Triceraton concept art on The Official TMNT Web Site and played with it a bit to produce the additional colors. Oh, and then I gave the drawing a yellow outline and a black background, 'cause it looks cooler that way. ;) So yeah, there he is! I like how he turned out. If you do too, drop a line and lemme know! And thanks for viewing and all. ^______^
