Scary-Crayon Updated! and quick blog stuff.
Category: SC Updates

It's a little late, but hopefully it's worth it -- the Madballs once again grace Scary-Crayon with their presence in this review of Madballs: Escape From Orb! Read, laugh, enjoy. And if you're interested in dipping into the archives, check out the Madballs' first appearance on the site in the review of The Madballs History of the World. Freaky fun for everyone! (^O^)

Blog-related stuff: As you may or may not have noticed, I finally got around to adding Sarah and Estella to the links -- I only republished the main page when I did it, so only that and the post pages created since then have those two links, but whenever I do a full republish the rest'll have 'em too, unless I can figure out how to modify archive page templates, in which case none of 'em will have links. And if you happen to be visiting with Mozilla, you might've noticed that the "WES" favicon shows up now for the blog (at least on the main page). w00t.

Oh, and Greg and Brent have posted their answers to the FIVE QUESTIONS, so go have a look. Fun answers all around!

So to recap, Madballs: Escape From Orb! and, um, other stuff. Assuming I don't change my mind out of utter terror, the next SC review will take us back to a very dark place... a place to which I never wanted to return again. Be afraid...

Comments on the “Buffy” series finale.

Nothing new tonight, but since Tina commented on the "Angel" finale entry and wanted to know the extent of my grievances with the "Buffy" series finale, I popped over to a Buffy board on which I've been posting for some time and looked up my old comments on it. In case it doesn't come out as well in these older reviews (though I think it does), I'll preface these remarks by noting that my dislike of the series finale was the logical end of my immense disappointment with the final season as a whole. And, of course, I'd been upset with the series since the beginning of Season 6, since I felt then and still feel to this day that Buffy should've ended with Season 5. In addition to Buffy's ultimate sacrifice and the rather triumphant ending despite her death, it was pretty much driven home that while there might have been fun from time to time, the life of the Slayer must ultimately be an unpleasant one, fraught with conflict... and that the Slayer's fight never really ends until she's dead. City Quiz and the Friday Four. Also, Angel.
Category: Meme …TV, Film, and DVDs

It's been a while since we had a quiz, so let's go!

Take the quiz: "Which American City Are You?"

SAN FRANCISCO!

San Francisco -- Liberal and proud, you'll live your lifestyle however you choose in the face of all that would supress you.

Interesting. And there's more: (more...)

Sayonara, Angel.

So I'm finally getting around to blogging about the series finale of "Angel" that aired on the 19th. (Wow, only a week ago? Guess I'm not as behind as I thought.) We've already heard a few words about it from Tina and Anon -- "What the hell was UP with that ending?!" and, "I loved the ending of Angel. Angel has always been about the shades of grey areas between good and evil. The point was that the battle against evil never ends, something they were saying in the episodes near the end of the series," respectively -- so I suppose I'll attempt to address some of their points and go from there... and I guess I'll start with Anon, since Tina's comment refers to the end, which I guess I'll talk about at the end. :) (more...)

Scary-Crayon Updated! and other stuff.
Category: SC Updates

It's been a while since we've had a nice lengthy commentary of sorts, but today's update brings us a rousing examination of some recent advertising trends and examples in an article entitled Stupid Internet Ads! You won't believe who McDonald's got to plug their artery-clogging crap this time around, but as Kurt Angle would say, "It's true, it's true." (more...)

Stuff, stuff, stuff.
Category: Miscellany

Eventful day yesterday... I'd tell you about it, but I ran up enough photos to turn the day's events into a Scary-Crayon piece, so hopefully I'll have that written up in time for next week. But after that I had an interview of sorts at one of the U.S. PIRG offices, which went well enough, but unfortunately the hours of that office don't mesh too well with the public transportation schedule (hours are like 2PM-10PM; around here, buses stop running around 7PM). The guy who ran the office seemed to like me, though -- really nice guy; fellow Yale grad, too -- so he gave me the number of another office in D.C. with more viable hours. That could work, but I've got an interview for a part-time job at Books A Million on Wed, so I think I'll see how that goes fist. These last few days have been pretty exhausting, so I'll use tomorrow for downtime and to work on the next SC article (which I'll hopefully get up sometime later today; if not then, I'll shoot for Wednesday). It should be a fun one, so stay tuned...

And I've still got two slots left for the FIVE QUESTIONS GAME -- so far, Brent and De are confirmed players, and I think Sam's in too. So if you wanna play, leave a comment! Once I've got all of the players, I'll write up the questions and send 'em out. :)

Still need to blog about Angel, too... but not tonight. Ja for now!

Five Questions! (and then some)
Category: Miscellany

Angel's still on the list of future blog topics, but for tonight's post I've answered Estella's five questions! Some other questions have also been answered...so I think I'm all caught up now on that front. Alrighty, HERE WE GO! (more...)
