Bacardi has discovered a box!

Bacardi has discovered a box!

What's inside the box, you ask?

What's inside the box, you ask?

Could it be...?

Could it be...?

YES! Whoplastic.

YES! Whoplastic.

So yeah, lots of new Doctor Who figures arrived today. I'm not terribly pleased about how much I spent on these -- though I got very good deals on most of them; it was the only way I could justify paying top dollar for the two San Diego Comic-Con exclusive 2-packs at the top -- but on the plus side my Whoplastic collection is nearing completion. Really, after I get the third and seventh Doctors (the former's due quite soon), I'll be content to never buy another DW figure again.

Until they release certain classic companions, anyway... and classic Master figures would be must-haves as well. Oh, and a Vervoid, though somehow I doubt Character Options would put one of those things on the shelves. Impressionable minds of children and all...

You lucky barstool! 😀 I'd like a Capt John figure myself.

    • Wes says:

Why does that not surprise me? You and your James Marsters obsession. 😉

Though personally I think "Torchwood" is beneath our Spike, especially considering that those episodes in which he appeared were really awful. The figure is a pretty good likeness, though -- easily the best out of the Torchline.

    Mmm... Tosh...

    Too bad she's dead 🙁

    • Wes says:

On the plus side, she didn't live to see this terrible figure of her. 😉

Okay, it's not terrible, but these Torchwood figures really aren't all that great -- I got Tosh more for the potential for goofy toy comics (and because I'm always happy to have more women in my toy Whoniverse). Unless they do some neat aliens in the line, I probably won't be getting any more figures from it.

These Hartnell and Troughton figures look amazing, though.

  • Mickelodeon says:

I thought you got a Troughton for yourself? I would have loved the Hartnell, too, but alas...I'm saving my money for Pertwee. And you know I'll buy both. 🙂 Plus, if yer talkin' classic companions, what about Jo and Liz? 😉 Though I'd *love* to see the classic S!J!S! from "Pyraminds of Mars" and "The Hand of Fear." Probably more the latter, but she was so darn cute in Victoria's dress. Or in those UNIT cammies from "Genesis of the Daleks." Her ass was SO adorable.

Did I just say that outloud? Again?

    • Wes says:

I did! You can see them both in the open box -- as well as how huge the Tatelek makes the other set (that said, it's still not as large as the werewolf). When I put them down on the floor, though, I left your Troughton elevated in the box to ensure that it would remain dog spit free! Sometimes Bacardi likes to inspect new things with his tongue. (Of course, he hates the camera, so he pretty much bolted as soon as I said he could go. 🙂 )

Oh, Jo and Liz would be cool too -- but we'd be here a while if I started listing all of the companions I'd like! I would rather have Peri than either of them, though -- possibly even more than a classic Sarah Jane (unless she's wearing the Andy Pandy outfit). Romana II in her pink Doctor ensemble would be fantastic as well.

And I don't know if you said that out loud, but you certainly typed it. 😉

  • Mickelodeon says:

Oi, you got an Auton twin pack?

  • Ro says:

Well don't those look familiar. 🙂 Brad just got his on Wednesday.

    • Wes says:

Excellent! Does he like them? I have not opened mine yet, but I'm hearing good things.

      • --Brad says:

Yup, I got the Hartnell and Troughton (as well as Colin Baker in a blue outfit) and like them very much. Rumor has it Pertwee (in two different outfits) will be released in October. That leaves Matt Smith, Sylvester McCoy and Paul McGann before I can film my stop-motion action-figure version of "The 11 Doctors".

What's preventing you from buying one of the Sarah Jane figures currently out? Hell, even I have one (with K9). By the way, if you really want a classic Master or Ace figure, you could always peruse eBay and pick up one of the old Dapol ones.

        • Wes says:

I figured you would have! And yes, I'm aware that Pertwee is on the way -- he's among my most wanted figures from SDCC '09. 🙂 Not all that keen on Matt Smith right now, though. Maybe he'll surprise me in the role, but he just looks like an uglier David Tennant. I'd have liked a bit more visual contrast.

I have one of the TSJA figures (she sometimes makes out with Batman), but I'd like a younger one as well -- preferably in the outfit she wore in "The Hand of Fear". That was just so darned cute!

And correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't the Dapol figures out of scale with the current line? I'm pretty sure they are out of my price range, too. 😉

  • Mickelodeon says:

I think after Liz, Jo, and Andy Pandy Sarah! Jane!, i'd start agitating for Romana I more than anyone. Especially if she were to be outfitted in the green and purple number from that one serial whose title escapes me and I can't think over the noise of me rumbling tummy and thoughts of Lena and Summer are distracting me...ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!

  • Mickelodeon says:

Also, have I mentioned how bloody cute Barcardi is, even if he's missing teeth?
